Legacy Giving

Please remember St. Germaine Children’s Charity in your will, estate or trust planning.  We are equipped to receive the following:

  • Gifts of Cash – Any and all gifts are welcomed and appreciated.
  • Appreciated Investments – Donating appreciated investments may allow taxpayers to avoid the capital gains tax while also possibly getting a tax deduction of up to 30% of their adjusted gross income. In addition, if you are 70-1/2 or older this year, you can give directly to charities from individual retirement accounts. This is an efficient way to fulfill required minimum distributions without having to withdraw taxable income. St Germaine is equipped to receive investments and it’s easy to do! First, contact your tax preparer or financial planner to see if it would be beneficial for you to give appreciated stocks. If it is, all you have to do is have your broker contact Carolyn Jones, who is part of Wells Fargo Advisors, at 858.459.0521. Our brokerage account number is 5833-2013. We will sell your contribution when we receive it and use it to give to our charities in the spring. It’s a win-win situation.
  • Bequests – You can name us in your will or living trust by designating a portion (percentage or specific dollar amount) of your estate. Please consult with your tax advisor, attorney, and/or financial planner to make certain any gift you are considering fits well in your specific circumstances.
  • Honoring & Remembrance Gifts – Gifts made in honor or remembrance of someone will be acknowledged in our Newsletter and will benefit the children we serve.

“Our commitment is that 100% of direct contributions to St. Germaine Children’s Charity go toward supporting child abuse prevention programs.”

St. Germaine Children’s Charity is a California nonprofit corporation comprised of approximately 300 members committed to stopping child abuse and improving the lives of abused and neglected children in San Diego. Formerly known as St. Germaine Auxiliary to the Child Abuse Prevention Foundation, we assumed the responsibilities of our own 501(c)(3) organization in August 2006.
